JC Leg Cranks!

Posted: Monday, April 13th, 2009

I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend (if they had one) and were able to catch up with family and friends. Plenty of staff here slowly making their way through the newsroom this morning complaining about too much chocolate and full bellies. Yesterday was awesome for me… I never made it out of my pj's. In fact, I did manage to brush the teeth and run out to pick up a coffee through the drive-thru. I didn't actually make it out of the pj's though, just a simple hat and sunglasses was all I needed. I spent the entire day cleaning and organizing the girls rooms. It's amazing how many clothes they grow in and out of. Once Andie outgrows it, the clothes move into a bag, which is then given to one of my girlfriends with a daughter about a year younger. Once her daughter is out of them, they come back to me so that I can use them again for my youngest daughter! It's perfect, until you realize that most of the clothes are stuck in bags and you can't remember if they are coming or going. I managed to sift through every bag and article of clothing this weekend. Plus the bonus part is that I was also able to clean out all the old toys! The baby toys have officially made their way into storage!! I didn't sit for about 9 hours, and with the windows opened it felt like the house was getting its own little make over.

On the show this morning was Connie Beaulieu of CU Fit Personal training. She introduced up to the JC Leg Crank. Here is what she wrote about the exercise:

The JC leg cranks! What a way to tear up your legs in a small space! Using only body weight, perform 10 squats, 10 dynamic lunges, 10 jump squats and 10 split squats without rest. Once this becomes easy, increase the repetitions until you can complete 24 of each. This is a great way to increase your power endurance but NOT for a beginner. This exercise should only be performed by a conditioned individual. This exercise was developed by my mentor JC Santana and I was introduced to it when I won the International Personal Training Apprentice Hunt in South Florida. It was developed for track athletes, but can be used for anyone looking for a quick and very effective leg workout!

I've been doing this exercise for a few weeks now and can feel the burn as I am doing it. I love it. I have yet to graduate to more reps but hope to be able to increase the reps sooner than later. I'll have to psych myself up prior to it!!!!
